Since TracFone honored mother's with free shipping, it's only fitting that the do the same for fathers. From now through June 14th, TracFone is offering free shipping on all orders placed through the TracFone Online Store.What's interesting, however, is that this speciall offer is not really publicized on their website. I only knew about it because of an email I received from them, but I placed an order tonight, and it did indeed give me free shipping.
My order was for the "two-fer" offer where you get two 60-minute airtime cards and a reconditioned phone for $19.99. This is an awesome deal just for the airtime, and the free shipping makes it even sweeter!

A recent article in the Bellingham (Washington) Herald considered what teenagers need in a cell phone plan. It outlined steps families should take when considering a provider that offers a two-year contract, like choosing a carrier with good coverage in the area, deciding how many minutes per month are needed, and choosing a phone with the extras you want, without making your monthly bill huge.
The article's main suggestion, however, is to purchase a TracFone for a teen's first cell phone. It says:
"If you decided you had to have a cell phone, the safest and most economical choice for parents and a teenager paying their own bills is a TracFone. TracFones have a known expense, a known number of minutes, and have no monthly bills to pay with hidden taxes and charges. It is a great way to test the need for a cell phone without having to sign a two-year contract." I might add that giving a teen a phone with a limited number of minutes is a great way to teach him or her self-disclipline. When the minutes are gone, they are gone. It puts a more tangible limit on the amount of gabbing a young person can do on the phone.
