TracFone Airtime Where To Find the Best Prices
Let's face it, TracFone airtime cards can be expensive. That's why it's even more important to
know where to shop to find the best prices!
If you're buying a new phone, the
TracFone Store
almost always has some sort of special deal going where you can get a new phone and airtime at
a good price. These promotional offers are a great way to stock up on airtime when buying a new
phone.
If you already have a phone, however, you can typically find better prices on airtime
cards by shopping around a little.
The first place to look would be
Amazon.com.
You can find slightly lower prices elsewhere on the internet, but Amazon offers free shipping on
orders over $25 along with NO sales tax in most states.
These are items that you would have to
pay at most other retailers, which makes Amazon's total price one of the lowest you'll find.
If you don't want to buy from Amazon, another good place to check out is
Walmart.com.
Whether you buy online or go to a local Wal Mart or Sam's Club store, there's no denying that
they have very attractive prices. You will, however, have to pay taxes and shipping in most
states.
One option to consider when buying almost anything on the internet is
Ebay.com.
If you have read my page on
Where to Buy TracFone Phones,
you will learn that I'm not real excited about buying them on Ebay.
As for airtime cards, I'm
still skeptical that you'll really find a good enough deal on Ebay to make it worth the added
risk of buying from some individual that you don't know. But since the airtime cards will work
on any TracFone anywhere in the country, there is a
bit less risk and hassle than with trying to buy a phone on Ebay.
Even if the initial bid is low, most of the airtime cards I see on Ebay will get bid up pretty close
to the normal retail price by the time the auction ends.
If you are comfortable with buying items off of Ebay, one way to get some cheap airtime is to look for a used TracFone with airtime already on it.
Interestingly enough, sometimes you can get a used phone with airtime for a lower price than what you would normally pay for just the airtime by itself.
Then when you get the phone in, call customer service and tell them you want to transfer the airtime from the used phone to your current phone.
Anyway, every auction is different and the above idea may not make sense in every case, but it's worth a look if you're really serious about getting cheap minutes.
If you find that you are using your phone quite a bit, then it might be worthwhile to sign up
for TracFone's double-minute autopay program. You pay a monthly fee, but the minutes get
doubled on every airtime card that you buy while you are enrolled in the program.
It's definitely not for everyone, but it can help make the
cost per minute a lot lower for heavy users.
To find out more, go to
www.tracfone.com
and click on the "services" link at the top right side if the page. This will take you to a page with
links to more info about several of the TracFone special programs, including the autopay programs.
In the end, if you only use your phone for emergencies and occasional use, then the cost per
minute doesn't matter as much because you're not using the phone enough to make a big
difference.
But if you find yourself needing new airtime cards quite often, then it will be worth your
while to shop around at some of the sites I've listed above. Remember, that buying the cards
with larger denominations will keep your cost per minute down, as well as signing up for the
double-minute plan.
Happy Shopping!
