May 8, 2007 20:34 - 30 Free TracFone Minutes br>
Be sure to click here to visit my new and improved TracFone blog for the latest TracFone promo codes! I'm leaving these pages here for historical purposes, but I'll be making all new posts on my new blog. Thanks!!

TracFone has a rather new program where you can get 30 free minutes every time you add airtime to your phone. The 30 free minutes start with the 2nd airtime code you add to your phone, and it does not apply to the 30 minute cards or the Double Minute for Life cards.

As far as I can tell, you don't have to do anything to sign up for this plan other than buy a new TracFone, as it doesn't seem to be available for any phones that have already been purchased.

The way I found out about this program is that I bought the deal where you get the TracFone Motorola C155 plus two 60-minute airtime cards for $19.99. After activating the phone, I got an email explaining the details of the 30 free minutes plan. Here's what the email said:

-----------------------------------------------
Congratulations!

Want to receive 30 FREE MINUTES every time you add airtime? Well, now you can with our 30 Plus Program! Enjoy 30 free minutes every time you add an airtime card, starting with the 2nd card you add as long as you keep your service active.

**Offer does not apply to the 30 minute or Double Minute for life cards. Program valid while your TRACFONE service remains active. Invalid if phone is lost/stolen.
-----------------------------------------------

Wow, thanks TracFone!

May 8, 2007 21:12 - Another way to get 20 free TracFone minutes

TracFone has another way to get 20 free airtime minutes, which I learned about when I activated the TracFone Motorola C155 I received along with two 60-minute airtime cards as part of the $19.99 special they are running right now.

When I activated the phone, they asked me to give my email address, and they enticed me with an offer to get 20 free TracFone airtime minutes on my next airtime redemption on the phone. I went ahead and entered my email address, and sure enough, a few hours later I received an email from them telling me that I needed to click on the link in the email to verify my email address, which I did.

So now I'll receive an extra 20 free minutes the next time I add airtime to the phone, plus I'll receive email alerts about any TracFone special offers in the future. I will, of course, post those alerts here to my blog as they come in.

May 9, 2007 21:57 - Update on TracFone Promo Code 55094

Patrick emailed today to say:

"GREAT job on the site! VERY useful information. Just to let you know that on 9 May 2007 promo 55094 worked for me on a Motorola V170 with the purchase of the combo deal 400 min/365 days service and lifetime upgrade to 2x minutes on future airtime. Just a darn shame you can't use these more than once! (grin)."

Just as a reminder, TracFone Promotional Code 55094 gives you an extra 100 minutes on the 400-minute one-year card. I don't know when this promo code expires, but I want to thank Patrick for letting me know that it still works for now!

May 15, 2007 06:59 - Old TracFone Friends

I received an email the other day from some website readers that I haven't heard from in a couple of years. They had requested a refer-a-friend back then, and it turns out that we went to the same BSF Bible Study, just in different cities.

Here's part of their email:

"Anyway, we were all ready to switch to TracFone back then. We have the phones and cards and you kindly referred me as your "friend." Unfortunately, we ran into some difficulty with our Verison contract and porting our phone numbers. Andy was in the midst of changing jobs and we didn't want to change his phone contact number at that time. Therefore, we never followed through on the activation.

We now can switch over without a problem. We were hoping you could resend the refer a friend e-mail so you can finally get your minutes and we can get ours."

Unfortunately, the refer-a-friend program is suspended indefinitely, but it was nice while it lasted!

I instead pointed them to the deal on the TracFone Online store where you get a TracFone phone and two 60-minute airtime cards for $20 and instructed them to use promo code 51283 with one of the cards and 55698 with the other.

Doing so will let you end up with 220 minutes and 180 days of service all for around $26 after tax and shipping. That's not bad!

May 16, 2007 21:15 - TracFone 60 day cards actually give 90 days

I recently took advantage of the TracFone sale on their website where you get a phone and two 60-minute airtime cards for $19.99. I mainly did this to get the cheap TracFone airtime.

When I opened the package, I noticed that the airtime card says that it will extend service by up to 60 days. The card is incorrect, however, because redeeming TracFone airtime cards now extends your service 90 days. Iverified this by adding the minutes to my phone, and it did indeed extend my due date 90 days.

So if you see an airtime card that says 60 days, don't fret, you will get your full 90 days. The 90 days will be tacked on to the end of your current due date, and the nice thing is that now there' seems to be no limit as to how long you can extend your due date.

It's kind of confusing, but this is a case where 60 means 90!

May 18, 2007 20:41 - I Got A "special" Text Message From TracFone Today

While driving back to work after lunch today, I heard my TracFone beep the text message sound. Since I don't really use text messaging anymore, I figured it was a wrong number.

I was wrong, though, becuase the message was from TracFone, and it said, "We've sent you a personal special e-mail offer. Please check your e-mail today."

I did check my email as soon as I got to work, but alas, the email hadn't come yet. It's funny how the promise of something "special" can get even a grownup excited. Luckily, the email did come a few minutes later.

And what was the big special? I can get the Double Minutes For Life card for only $49.99!! Wow, what a bargain! Oh wait, anyone can get the Double Minutes For Life card for $49.99 at any time on the TracFone Online Store. So much for me being "special."

Actually, that card is not a bad deal if you use up a lot of minutes on your phone, but it's kind of irritating that they sent me a text message to tell me to check my email for a "special" that's no special at all. At least the text message was free, so it didn't really cost me anything but a couple minutes of my time.

May 18, 2007 20:51 - A Genuine TracFone Airtime Special

While on the TracFone Online Store today, I noticed that they are running a real special. You can save $20 on a card that gives you 400 minutes, 365 days of service, and double minutes on future airtime cards you add to your phone. All for $129.99.

Considering that the double minute card is $49.99 and the 400 minute 365-day card is $99.99, this is a genuine special, but it expires May 21, 2007. The best thing is there's no promo code needed, just go to the "buy airtime" section of the TracFone website.

May 22, 2007 19:59 - TracFone Coverage in Branson, MO

I had an opportunity to visit Branson, MO this weekend, and I can report that my Nokia 2600 single rate TracFone got great coverage.

The company I work for had an employee day at Silver Dollar City in Branson, which was nice because they gave us free one-day passes. I also wanted to go to a fly-in at the M. Graham Clark airport at College of the Ozarks in the Branson area, so we just made a day of it.

We have some friends that have season passes to Silver Dollar City, so we made plans to meet them at the park after we were done at the fly-in. This is where our TracFone came in handy. You see, we didn't know exactly when we were going to leave the airport, and we didn't know what kind of traffic we were going to face in Branson.

As it turned out, we had to call our friends 3 different times to give them updates on where we were and how long we thought it would be until we got to SDC. We don't use our phones every day, but at times like this they sure are convenient to have on-hand.

May 23, 2007 20:31 - TracFone promotional code 55094 set to expire 5/28/07

According to the www.tracfone.com, promotional code 55094 will expire on 5/28/07. They are now calling it a Memorial Day special, even though the code's been around awhile.

This is the promo code that will give you 100 free bonus airtime minutes on a 1-year 400-minute card.

So if you're wanting to buy that card, the time to do it is now.

May 23, 2007 20:37 - Updated TracFone website and new TracFone value plans

TracFone has freshened up their website at www.tracfone.com. It's not a lot different than the old website, but overall it looks better.

Bigger news is that TracFone now has 3 new value plans.

The first one is called the 50 Minutes Value Plan. With this plan you pay $9.99/month for 30 days of service and 50 airtime minutes.

The second one is called the Family Value Plan. This plan gives you 50 minutes and 30 days on the first phone, and 30 minutes and 30 days on each additional phone on the plan. It costs $9.99/month for the first phone and $5.99 for the additional phones.

The third value plan is called the Lifeline Value Plan. This plan gives you no minutes, but if your phone gets to the end of its service time, the plan with charge you $4.95 and extend your due date by 30 days. It's nice insurance to make sure you never accidentally let your phone expire.

TracFone has also introduced 50 minute and 100 minute bundles that can be added at any time if you are enrolled in one of the value plans. The 50 minute bundle is $10, and the 100 minutes bundle is $20.

These plans are nice additions to the TracFone lineup. While you can get airtime cheaper by using promotional codes and the two-fer special, these plans are appealing because you set-it-and-forget-it. If you don't use your phone much, but always want to make sure it's active when you need it, then one of these plans might be for you.

May 24, 2007 21:09 - TracFone Promotional Code 54969 - 100 minutes on 200 minute card or greater

I got an email from TracFone today with a promotional code that will give you 100 free minutes on a 200 minute or greater airtime card. The promo code is 54969, but it is set to expire on May 28, 2007 so you'll have to act soon!

May 24, 2007 21:13 - TracFone Promotional Code 58417 - good for 30 free minutes on 120 minute card or greater

I read on the TracFone_Users Yahoo group today that TracFone Promotional code 58147 will give you 30 free minutes on a 120 minute card or greater. Also, the code is not valid with the Double Minute for life card.

This promo code is set to expire on May 27, 2007. I wonder if having more short-term promo codes is going to be the way TracFone does it now?

May 25, 2007 20:33 - TracFone Promo Code 55698 good for 20 free minutes on a 60 minute or greater card - new expiration date?

I received a TracFone Insider email today stating that TracFone Promo Code 55698 will add 20 free minutes when I add a 60-minute card or greater to my phone by May 31, 2007.

Interestingly enough, TracFone sent me an email about a month ago stating that promo code 55698 would expire on May 19, 2007. This seems like a good time to remind everyone that just because TracFone says a promotional code is expired doesn't necessarily mean it's expired.

May 29, 2007 20:24 - Update on TracFone Promo Code 51283 (60 minutes) and 57676 (30 days)

Yesterday I added a 60-minute airtime card to my Nokia 2600 and added two 60-minute airtime cards to my wife's Motorola v170.

I used promo code 51283 on one of the cards on my wife's TracFone, and it gave 60 free minutes as advertised. I used promo code 57676 with the second airtime card on her phone, and it added 30 extra days of service with no problems.

I tried to use 51283 on my TracFone, but it said that that code had already been used on my phone. To be honest, I don't remember using it with my phone before, but I don't doubt it.

This brings up a "gothca" to be careful about. I used the TracFone rapid refill feature where you enter the airtime pin directly into your phone with the promo code appended to the end. What happened was that it went ahead and added the 60 normal minutes from the airtime card, and then displayed a message on the phone telling me that the promo code was invalid for my phone.

Why is this bad? Because the airtime PIN was used up so that I couldn't try a different promo code! The moral of the story is that if you're not sure if your promo code is valid, click on the "want to use web" link when adding airtime, don't use the rapid refill. When you use the web, it will tell you that the airtime code is invalid before it uses the airtime PIN so that you have an opportunity to try a different TracFone promotional code.
